My mom called me last night from Puerto Rico and it made me very happy to hear from her. She has been having a good vacation spending time with the family even though it has rained since she arrived.
She was sitting with my grandmother Julia, (Matata, as all of us grandchildren call her), on the porch enjoying the evening and gossiping. It was great to speak with Matata who will be 93 this August. She is a great lady and a living legend among us. Don’t let her age fool you…she is sharp as a knife and keeps track of all of us really well. She loves Brian and thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread. She has advised me to be very nice to him. We’ll see!
Anyway, this was just a quick message to say I love my grandma!

One response to “Matata is Great!”
Forgot to say how big Matata’s family is. Matata has 9 children, 22 grandchildren (I think my count is a little off because of 2nd marriges), 27 Great-grandchildren and a couple of great-great-granchildren. That’s all.
