We just had Directv installed, and I am already loving it. I’m currently watching the Hokies beat up on Miami (twenty more free throw attempts) on some sort of alternate Comcast Sports Net channel. I wouldn’t have been able to watch the game with Cox Cable.
The Hokies aside, we finally have high definition shows to watch on our HDTV. No HD locals yet (I’m working on getting one of these), but we do have ESPN HD, Discovery HD, and a handful of other HD channels. So far I’ve mostly watched ESPN HD, and I have one word for you – simply, totally awesome.
Some of the other HD channels have just been okay; I think they might upscale standard definition shows which, while they do look better than normal television, it’s just not high definiton. They do have Battlestar Galactica in HD though. 🙂 Heck, even the State of the Union is in HD tonight.
Some of the shows on Discovery HD look absolutely stunning, but how long can you watch flowing streams and algae growing? Pretty long if it’s in HD, it turns out.
And to top it off, we’re paying less than we did for cable, and that was without high definition.
