Don’t Call It A Comeback

A week and a half ago, I accomplished something for the first time ever. I won a fantasy football championship.

That’s right – a fantasy football championship.

I can feel your excitement from here. Seriously though, it’s not easy to win one. I’ve played fantasy football for about five years now, and I’ve come tantalizing close to winning a couple of championships, but I’ve always come up on the short end of the stick (same as my Hokies last night).

But this time, I started the right players and my opponents didn’t, and I had just enough to put it all together for a championship run. The first half of the season was not very good for me as I went a mediocre 3-4. My team really came on strong in the second half as I won five in a row going 6-1. I still came dangerously close to not even making the playoffs as I had to win the last week of the regular season to assure my spot with a 9-5 record, and it was the last seed as it was. And to top it off, three of my top players were injured: Marc Bulger, Terrell Owens and Willis McGahee.

My team was deep though and I made some key free agent pick-ups which enabled my team to not miss a beat in the playoffs. It didn’t hurt that my opponents had especially bad weeks. 🙂

It’s a lot of hard work watching football. It’s really great to finally have it all pay off in the end.
