Our little Jackaroo had his annual check up yesterday and is doing okay. Since he’s getting on in years, I worry every time we go to the vet. Last year she told us he was chubby and that we should put him on a diet. Well we did and I am happy to report that he went from a whopping 24 pounds (a lot for a tiny dog) to a slim 19 pounds. Needless to say the vet was happy with his weight.
His heart and lungs are healthy but she did find a small trace of Lyme disease. I know that sounds kind of strange but according to Brian, that’s how the vet described it. It could’ve been a false-positive but she thought it would be a good idea to put him on antibiotics for 10 days. We didn’t want to take a chance so we are giving him the medicine and he has to go back in 4 months for a follow-up. He also might have a little arthritis due to his age but nothing too bad.
I know he’s just a dog but he’s our baby, our friend and we would like for him to be with us as long as possible. We recommend that all of you out there with pets, please take care of them and make sure to take them to a vet at least once a year. They deserve at least that much for their unconditional love!
