51 Days to Go!

51 days until our wedding day!! I can’t believe it is that close and yet so far away. I know that does not make sense, but I am running out of time for all the things I have to do, yet I wish it would just hurry up and get here. Thanks again to all the family and friends who are hanging in there with us, just a little bit more to go.

Number of things to do on my list: 100+
Number of things to do on Brian’s list: 3….and one of them is to show up!

Invitational Reinforcement

Not been too much going on here as of late. Just been really busy with the wedding and other stuff. Doesn’t make for much of a blog if there’s nothing to read, right?

So on Sunday, we’re putting together our wedding invitations. I’ve just printed out the directions and start to fold them to put in the envelope when I notice I’ve made a mistake (let’s just say you can’t reinforce an enforcement). So I go to print out seventy more directions when after about 22 of them, my black ink runs out!

Now, eight o’clock on a Sunday evening…not exactly prime printer-ink-buying time.

Luckily the local Target is open so I head up there with our friend, Mike, who had come over with his wife, Laura, to help us with the invitations. We head over to the ink section, scan the aisle, and there seems to be plenty of ink for every printer imaginable…except mine. Every rack is ten deep with inks except the black ink for my Canon printer.

Inconceivable!

The Target girl checks in the back and nothing. So, reluctantly, we trek over to the ghetto Kmart, which is surprisingly still in business. It’s the only place where they actually have printer ink in a locked cabinet. I guess they’re a really hot item on the black market.

But the ghetto Kmart actually comes through. They have the black ink for my printer! We get it, speed home, print off the remaining directions, and finish putting the invitations together. Unfortunately, Monica had already sealed two of the invitations with the directions that included my faux pas. So, to Danny and Scott, please ignore my blunder.

Hope you like it hot!!

I know that we took a chance on the weather by getting married in July, but this is ridiculous. According to the Farmer’s Almanac the weather for our region this summer will be the following:

Summer will be hotter and wetter than normal. The hottest temperatures will occur in late June and late July.

Does anybody know how on target these people are?

Suggestions for super-duper antiperspirants for use by the wedding party are now being accepted.

No Sharp Objects

Okay, change of plans for the wedding. We’re getting married here.

Weekend Update

Well, I have to say that Brian and I had a great weekend. We shoveled lots and lots of dirt Saturday while helping our friends, Mike and Laura, landscape their backyard. You might wonder what’s so great about shoveling dirt. Well, while shoveling I was NOT DOING ANY WEDDING STUFF!!! Don’t get me wrong, I am looking forward to my wedding very much, but I am a little tired of putting it together. I thank Brian for the endless amount of patience he has as he listens to me scream, cry, babble and fight about the wonderful, blessed event. Brian, you are the best.

After attending Easter service, Brian and I along with a couple of friends from church decided to spend some time at a wonderful place we call Starbucks. It all turned ugly when Mike proceeded to say that baseball was boring and he prefers watching the EXCITING game of golf. As a Yankees fan I find that completely crazy…then it got worse. His wife, Laura, proceeded to say that the Yankees look dirty and mean. What is she thinking? Next time, I will make sure to have my vaseline ready! GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!

Busy Beavers

Quite the busy weekend. Hung out with our neighbor and cooked hamburgers on the grill on Friday night, picked out the tuxedos on Saturday, had dinner with some friends on Saturday night, and had our engagement pictures taken on Sunday.

We’re getting the tuxedos through Men’s Wearhouse, and they make it really easy for me and for the groomsman because they only need to go to their nearest store to get measured rather than make the trek to DC (all of them are out of town). I don’t have any pictures of what we picked out, but trust me…I will look good (do I ever not?).

Thanks to Mark and Lorena for cooking a great meal on Saturday (lasagna, bread, and cake). There are now two things on my todo list: get a breadmaker and eat cereal with peanut butter (don’t ask me, send all questions to the tribal monkey).

Unfortunately, we had to miss church on Sunday for out engagement pictures, but fortunately, we had decent weather (very sunny, but a little chilly). We spent 30-45 minutes voguing in DC by the Lincoln Memorial, and hopefully the photos turned out well. We even got a chance to see some cherry blossoms. We’re now waiting anxiously by the phone for all the modeling contracts that are soon to come pouring in.

My Turn to Gab

Hello, everyone! I thought it was about time some of my thoughts got on this thing. First of all I want to thank Brian for his amazing hard work in putting this site together. I bug him for spending so much time on the computer, but I do love the results! Thanks, Brian!

The weather in the DC area today should be close to 80 degrees and that makes me happy. I have never been so miserable as I have been this winter. I don’t like snow, I hate being cold and I hope never to shovel as much snow as I did in the past few months. Finally I am feeling like Spring is finally here and it makes me a much happier person or at least that is Brian’s hope.

As Summer gets closer, I realize that our wedding day is just around the corner and we both hope we make it past the planning to actually enjoy the day. I want to thank all of our friends and family who have helped with it all and we hope you hang in there with us! Special thanks go to Kim Thies who keeps reminding me that I am ahead of schedule; Debra Fields who all the way from Japan manages to help me with wedding day/honeymoon fashion and thanks to Ashley LaGasse. Ashley can somehow manage to give me sympathy when I tell her I am stressed while she works on getting her Masters, teaches and volunteers! I sure know how to pick them!

I wish everyone a great rest of the week and we hope to see you all soon!

Our thoughts and prayers are with our troops and everyone involved in the current conflict!

Kiss me, I’m Irish (as far as you know)

Went down to Chesapeake at the last minute this past weekend to do some wedding stuff. We bought our rings and some stuff for the reception. Got to see my mom, our friend Bucky, but not my dad. Sorry, dad! We’ll see you next time we come at the end of April.

I can’t believe the wedding is only four months away. It’s crazy! It seems like just yesterday I thought girls had cooties. Well, some girls still do.

I know I mentioned that we got the invitations in, and they look very nice so you’ll be seeing those in the mail eventually. Those that have seen them think they look ‘classy’. I like classy.

I’ve almost completed the redesign, and I hope to get that up this week. I’m liking how it’s looking, and I hope you do too. Actually, I don’t really care if you like it or not. :)

Oh, and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!

Storm Suggestions

Hey, updates have been a little sparse lately. Sorry about that. I’ve changed the look of the main page here once again. I’ll probably stick a new poll up soon…the current one has run it’s course.

Got word today that our invitations are in. We might pick them up tomorrow so I’ll post my thoughts about them soon.

Finally did our taxes this past weekend. I hate doing them, but I put them off longer than I usually do this year. Just been too busy. I ended up owing a little money (boo!), but Monica is getting a big fat refund (yea!).

Ok, back to the snow from last week. It’s official…I hate this town. Don’t worry about plowing for a few days, and once you do, no need to worry about plowing every lane or plowing in a straight line. In fact, it’s a good idea to plow big piles of snow into intersections and random lanes so that people will have an interesting drive to and from work every day. Oh, and seeing as how subway trains are hardly ever outside, let’s design a metro that breaks down when it snows. All of these things and more can be yours just by living in Northern Virginia.

Sick of Being Sick

Monday. Blech.

Fighting this sinus infection today. My head feels like it’s in the clouds. I’m going to have to go the doctor later this week.

Finalized our honeymoon today. Yea! I’ll put the details on the wedding page eventually. Yeah, I know, we’ve said that alot lately and nothing has shown up. It’ll be there.

Changed the look of the front page. I was thinking it was a little too cluttered. I moved the movie, DVD, and book sections to the ‘about us’ page. Let me know what you think.
