Okay, I think it’s about time I started posting again. It’s been a hectic few weeks around here to say the least.

Work was simply crazy for awhile with late nights aplently. Then we started having server trouble which led me to finally stop procrastinating on that OS upgrade I’d been planning for a long time. With that out of the way, some lovely spammers located my comment script and used it to their heart’s content. So then that made me start looking at upgrading our blogging software. I had been using movable type for a couple of years and was considering upgrading to the newest version which would have required me to actually pay some money.

Um…yeah.

Obviously, I was a little hesitant, but the comment spam was driving me nuts so I came this close to biting the bullet. That is, until I read this article.

So here I am blogging with wordpress, and I must say, it’s simply awesome. I have had almost no trouble setting up the software, and migrating the site was a breeze. I love the permalinks, and it’s amazing to not have to rebuild pages anymore. Movable Type, you were good for awhile, but WordPress is the real deal.

There are still a few things that need tweaking here and there, but most everything is where it should be now. I even added a few enhancements to the site, and I finally got the webcam working the way it should have been all along.

Just one more thing to say before I call it a night. I was installing the software this past Sunday so I didn’t get a chance to post a very important message.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

That is how I describe our lives lately. We are sorry that we don’t update the web site very often, but we promise to get better at it soon. Brian the computer geek has been doing all kinds of nerdy things that I don’t understand to update the web site and make it better and more efficient.

The latest update is that everything is fine.

We hope to get back to normal soon.

Been a little while since I posted so here’s what’s up.

I’ve been sick the past week or so with some sort of cold/sinus infection thing, and now Monica has it as well. It really knocked me on my butt for a few days, and it came out of no where. Now Monica has to deal with it and finals as well. Sorry, baby.

We did manage to get in some yard work, but we still have a long way to go. Shoveling dirt is no fun, especially when you’re sick.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve updated the look of the site, as well as cleaned up some of the code. It’s something I’ve been working on here and there for awhile now, and I finally decided it was time for a change. I think the previous design was pretty consistent for a couple of years. There are still some pages that haven’t been updated yet, but let us know what you think.

I was just browsing through some of our archives, and I realized that we’ve been posting here for over two years. Wow, it doesn’t seem like that long.

I think it will be really interesting to look back in a few years to see what was transpiring in our life at the time. I guess it’s kind of like looking back at a diary…that everyone else reads as well.

I finally added a moblog to the site. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile, but I never got around to it until now.

I decided it was a good time to learn perl so I wrote a script to periodically check an email address for an email from my phone, get that email, parse it for an image, and then post that image to the site. Maybe one of these days I’ll post the script with some documention for others to see.

The latest moblog image will appear on the right side, and there are links to the last twenty images and the image archives. There’s also an RSS feed of the last twenty images. Enjoy!

I’ve been working on a few things with the site lately, and now the search is borked, and I have no idea why.

I hate broken stuff.

I reorganized some of the stuff on the site…mostly on the about page. I figured it was about time to combine our engagement, wedding, and honeymoon information all on one page. I’m probably going to adding some more on that page about us and our interests, etc.

There also might be another section of the site to debut shortly so stay tuned. Isn’t the anticipation just killing you?

Style Rant

You know, some times I really get sick of how different browsers treat CSS. There are a couple of minor style sheet problems with the site: one that is see in Firefox, and one that is seen in IE. And it’s not as if it’s super easy to decipher what the problem is right away…thus the reason for my rant.

I realize that some of you may not know what I’m talking about…but can’t we just decide on one standard for a style sheet and stick with it?

Sheesh.
