Shriners

Pretty uneventful weekend around here as it rained for most of it. I’ve had to do some actual work which makes for what amounts to a non-existent weekend, but we did manage to head out yesterday evening to help out my Dad and Marlene with one of their Shrine events.
We helped hand out drinks to [...]

It’s not the humidity, it’s the heat

It’s so hot today.
How hot is it?
It’s so hot, I saw a robin dunking his worm in Nestea.
But seriously, what is up with the heat? All of our plants are dying, and it’s like an oven when you walk outside. Make that a sauna.
When it’s 100 degrees outside, does it really matter?

All by myself

On Friday, Monica headed off to spend a week in New York with the family so I’ve been all alone this weekend. (She arrived safely and has been having a great time, she tells me.)
Yesterday, I did some much needed yard work, and got to finally use our new lawn mower. Man, I must be [...]

Dayside

Today Monica made her television debut on Fox News on a show called Dayside. She was on almost the entire hour as she was seated just behind the host of the show, and she even got to ask a question! Pretty cool if you ask me…my wife, the TV star.

House

And there’s another anniversary today. No, I’m not talking about this one, although that is very cool. I’m talking about our first house.
It was one year ago today, that we signed the documents and became homeowners. It was quite a big step for us, and it’s not exactly comforting sitting in a room with lawyers [...]

Newlyweds no more

Man oh man, I cannot believe that it’s been two years since we were married. So much has changed since then. We’re in a new town, new job, new school, new car…well, just about new everything.
[now for the mushy stuff]
And I have somehow managed to find new love for my wife. I’m incredibly blessed by [...]

I am not a gardener

My Dad gave me some veggies from his garden yesterday, and we enjoyed some of them in a salad today. He’s a regular farmer with his monster garden, with his rows upon rows of vegetables. He could put Del Monte out of business.
Meanwhile we’re chugging along with one radish and one green pepper. I think [...]

It’s not the heat

More hot and humid weather today as we spent a great deal of it outside at a picnic. This weather pattern we’re in right now is crazy. We just get pounded with fierce storms on a daily basis with plenty of heavy downpours, lightning, and thunder. Jack absolutely loves it.

300

I just noticed that yesterday we finally reached 300 posts on this blog. It’s taken two and a half years to reach that milestone. Pretty impressive, huh?
Well, maybe not so much.

God is bowling

Ever slept through hours and hours of pounding rain, lightning, and thunder?
Neither have we.
Last night we had possibly the greatest thunderstorm ever, and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who’s lived in Florida previously. I can’t be certain, but the storm appeared to last at least five hundred hours. In between buckets of rain [...]
