Gardening at Night

I tilled up an area in our backyard this past weekend in anticipation of planting some seeds for our very own vegetable garden. We’re planning on planting tomatoes (yes, I know they are a fruit), cucumbers, green peppers, and maybe some squash. I know Monica wants to experiment with carrots too, but I’m not sure if we have enough room for all of that.

And let me tell you…tilling up the substance that is called dirt but is actually clay here in Virginia is no easy task. I didn’t actually go as deep as the experts recommend for a garden, but I hope it’s good enough. The area gets plenty of sun which is the most important thing.

We should have plenty of produce later in the summer, assuming that our garden actually takes off. That’s a big assumption to make, being that this is our first attempt at farming, but you never know.

I’ve just got to keep Jack from peeing on our food.
