Peas in a Pod(cast)

Since acquiring my iPod, I’ve discovered something that I would best describe as cable access radio. It’s called podcasting.

Podcasts are basically audio programs of varying length which are delivered to your computer via subscription. You don’t need an iPod or even an mp3 player to listen to them, just a computer. Just look up a podcast in a directory, subscribe to it using software such as ipodder or nimiq, and voila, you’re a podcast listener.

This seems to be the next big thing on the internet. Anyone with a computer and a microphone has the ability to create their own show, and there’s already a distribution system in place to push the show to anyone with an internet connection. I’m sure there are plenty of people currently plotting how they can make money on this.

Here are some podcasts to which I currently listen:

Engadget
The Laporte Report
Lifespring!
The Living Word
Reel Reviews
RevTim
Two Rights Conservative Political Discourse
Yesteryear Radio Vault
