I put up our outside Christmas lights today: some along the roof line and some in the bushes.
I know some people don’t like any sort of Christmas decorations while it’s still November, and I used to agree with them. In fact, I don’t remember putting up decorations until the first or second week of December when I was a kid.
But the way I figure it now (especially since I’m the one putting up the decorations), if I’m going to do all the work and it’s going to look nice, why not have them up for as long as possible?
That doesn’t mean it’s okay to leave them up year round though.
Once the new year is here, take those suckers down!

We put up the Christmas tree today, as well as various other decorations. We still need to decorate the outside, and obtain some other decorations for the rest of the house (including a new tree topper).
I can’t believe it’s already Christmas time, but now that it’s here, we’re ready to enjoy it.
As I sit here watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (can’t get enough of those NBC stars, huh? :whocares: ), I can’t help but ponder the things that Monica and I are so thankful for this year.
We’re thankful for…
…God providing and watching over us each and every day.
…each other.
…our quirky dog, Jack.
…our family and friends that support us in everything we do.
…our home, food on the table, and clothes on our backs.
…our troops who put their lives on the line every day to protect us.
…the troops’ families who sacrifice so much with their loved ones away from home.
Happy Thanksgiving!

For the first time in fourteen years, I do NOT have to drive anywhere out of town for Thanksgiving.
Hallelujah!
It wasn’t so bad driving back and forth from school, as I was doing the driving while most everyone else was working. The last few years, however….well, it always seemed as if the entire East Coast left at the same time I did.
Tomorrow, it’ll be just a few minutes drive to a couple of family destinations, and that’s it. Woohoo!

You know, some times I really get sick of how different browsers treat CSS. There are a couple of minor style sheet problems with the site: one that is see in Firefox, and one that is seen in IE. And it’s not as if it’s super easy to decipher what the problem is right away…thus the reason for my rant.
I realize that some of you may not know what I’m talking about…but can’t we just decide on one standard for a style sheet and stick with it?
Sheesh.

I decided to finally test out our fireplace yesterday, and it was a major success.
That is, after a couple hours of burning newspaper and paper bags. Turns out it’s a little tough to burn wood that’s been sitting out in the rain.
But once it got going, it was an awesome experience. Sitting by the fire while the cold wind is whipping leaves into a frenzy outside just does a body good.

Thank God there are people brave enough in this world to defend the freedom that all of us in the good ol’ USA enjoy every day. My grandfather was a vet, my dad is a vet, Monica’s dad is a vet, and we have friends that are future vets…heck, Monica’s a vet too.
Here’s to you, veterans. Thank you for your sacrifice, for your families’ sacrifice, and for your service to the greatest country ever.
Pretty much immediately after I got married, my wedding ring morphed from beautiful yellow and brushed white gold into a dented piece of gold colored metal. I guess I’m just really tough on rings. I’m not sure how it happened, whether I subconsciously tap it constantly or what, but I suspect the majority of the damage happened on our honeymoon (perhaps while riding ATVs).
I stopped by the jewelry store today to see if it could be fixed, and they told me that they could ship it back to the factory where the ring could be refinished. So that’s what’s being done. I’ll be wedding ring-less for two to four weeks, but in the end I’ll have a brand new (looking) wedding ring.
Until then, I’m a single man again!
(Just don’t tell me wife.
