100 Years of Hope

Happy Birthday today to the quintessential host with the most, Bob Hope.

He’s made millions of people laugh, and is a true national treasure because of his many years entertaining the troops. I’ve seen some of his old movies and used to watch his NBC specials, and it’s totally insane that’s he 100 years old now. Here’s to you, Bob.

Memorial Day Redux

This update is a little late, but we’ve been busy!

We had a great time down in Chesapeake visiting the family and had a blast at Busch Gardens with Bucky. The weather did indeed suck on Saturday so we missed our beach time, but it was pretty good on Sunday (only managed to rain while we were inside the Festhaus eating lunch). Lots of fun riding the Lochness Monster, Big Bad Wolf, Alpengiest, and especially Apollo’s Chariot ( Bill’s favorite  ).

And we highly recommend the Budweiser Beer School in Ireland.

51 Days to Go!

51 days until our wedding day!! I can’t believe it is that close and yet so far away. I know that does not make sense, but I am running out of time for all the things I have to do, yet I wish it would just hurry up and get here. Thanks again to all the family and friends who are hanging in there with us, just a little bit more to go.

Number of things to do on my list: 100+
Number of things to do on Brian’s list: 3….and one of them is to show up!

Memorial Day Fun

So we’re heading out of town this weekend, making the trek down to Hampton Roads to see some family and friends. We were originally going to the beach on Saturday, but the weather doesn’t look as if it’s going to cooperate.

But we are going to Busch Gardens with our friend, Bucky, on Sunday. Hopefully the threat of rain will drive everyone else away so we can ride Lochness and Alpengiest over and over again! :scared:

Then on Monday, we’ll be back up here for the holiday and have a little shindig at our friends’, the Chengs.

And on Memorial Day, take some time out to say a prayer and remember those who made the greatest sacrifice for our country.

Invitational Reinforcement

Not been too much going on here as of late. Just been really busy with the wedding and other stuff. Doesn’t make for much of a blog if there’s nothing to read, right?

So on Sunday, we’re putting together our wedding invitations. I’ve just printed out the directions and start to fold them to put in the envelope when I notice I’ve made a mistake (let’s just say you can’t reinforce an enforcement). So I go to print out seventy more directions when after about 22 of them, my black ink runs out!

Now, eight o’clock on a Sunday evening…not exactly prime printer-ink-buying time.

Luckily the local Target is open so I head up there with our friend, Mike, who had come over with his wife, Laura, to help us with the invitations. We head over to the ink section, scan the aisle, and there seems to be plenty of ink for every printer imaginable…except mine. Every rack is ten deep with inks except the black ink for my Canon printer.

Inconceivable!

The Target girl checks in the back and nothing. So, reluctantly, we trek over to the ghetto Kmart, which is surprisingly still in business. It’s the only place where they actually have printer ink in a locked cabinet. I guess they’re a really hot item on the black market.

But the ghetto Kmart actually comes through. They have the black ink for my printer! We get it, speed home, print off the remaining directions, and finish putting the invitations together. Unfortunately, Monica had already sealed two of the invitations with the directions that included my faux pas. So, to Danny and Scott, please ignore my blunder.

Free Speech…Almost

I love articles such as this.

According to some people, free speech applies to them but not to those who disapprove of what they’re saying.

Hawaii Bound

This message is to wish our friends Mark and Lorena a safe trip. Today, they start their long drive to Oklahoma to visit family before heading to Hawaii where they will be stationed for 3 years. Mark is in the good ol’ Air Force.

I miss them already, but look forward to seeing them when Brian and I go to Hawaii in July.

Mark and Lorena, have a great trip and we hope to hear from you soon!!

Outwitted

What a crock. Does anything really think that Jenna deserved to win Survivor? How on earth did Christie, Rob, and Dave vote for Jenna? I guess being a spoiled, little brat does get you ahead in life…or at least on TV.

And Rob clearly deserved to win.

And whoever is in charge of making the commercials for that toenail fungus stuff that they showed during the Survivor Reunion show should be shot. Quite revolting.

Hope you like it hot!!

I know that we took a chance on the weather by getting married in July, but this is ridiculous. According to the Farmer’s Almanac the weather for our region this summer will be the following:

Summer will be hotter and wetter than normal. The hottest temperatures will occur in late June and late July.

Does anybody know how on target these people are?

Suggestions for super-duper antiperspirants for use by the wedding party are now being accepted.

No Sharp Objects

Okay, change of plans for the wedding. We’re getting married here.
