Another great example of what’s wrong with our educational system…at least in the
People’s Republic of California. God help the children in those schools.

So that’s what food poisioning is like. Ugh. It all started on Friday morning about 4 am when I awoke with a tremendous feeling of what felt like heartburn. This was replaced by a feeling of nausea so I rushed to the bathroom, but nothing showed up. While I was there, I decided to…I’ll put this delicately…go to the bathroom. I preceded to “go to the bathroom” many times over the course of that day, only pausing to take occasional naps and end my vomit streak around 8:45 am. Eight years – gone. My streak is now three days. Look to the cookie!

Never, ever buy cooked shrimp from Safeway.

Then came the 101 degree fever on Friday night. We were supposed to go down to Chesapeake to see the family but couldn’t make it due to my illness. Sorry everyone! I ended sleeping most of the weekend anyway. Missed some pretty good weather too. At least I had Monica to take care of me the whole time. Thank you, baby!

Now I’m back at work, and I’m still not 100%. To top it off, they are still working on resurfacing the roof here so there’s a wonderful smell of tar in the air.

I thought the trailer for this movie looked cool…

Wow.

My mom called me last night from Puerto Rico and it made me very happy to hear from her. She has been having a good vacation spending time with the family even though it has rained since she arrived.
She was sitting with my grandmother Julia, (Matata, as all of us grandchildren call her), on the porch enjoying the evening and gossiping. It was great to speak with Matata who will be 93 this August. She is a great lady and a living legend among us. Don’t let her age fool you…she is sharp as a knife and keeps track of all of us really well. She loves Brian and thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread. She has advised me to be very nice to him. We’ll see!

Anyway, this was just a quick message to say I love my grandma!

Well, I have to say that Brian and I had a great weekend. We shoveled lots and lots of dirt Saturday while helping our friends, Mike and Laura, landscape their backyard. You might wonder what’s so great about shoveling dirt. Well, while shoveling I was NOT DOING ANY WEDDING STUFF!!! Don’t get me wrong, I am looking forward to my wedding very much, but I am a little tired of putting it together. I thank Brian for the endless amount of patience he has as he listens to me scream, cry, babble and fight about the wonderful, blessed event. Brian, you are the best.

After attending Easter service, Brian and I along with a couple of friends from church decided to spend some time at a wonderful place we call Starbucks. It all turned ugly when Mike proceeded to say that baseball was boring and he prefers watching the EXCITING game of golf. As a Yankees fan I find that completely crazy…then it got worse. His wife, Laura, proceeded to say that the Yankees look dirty and mean. What is she thinking? Next time, I will make sure to have my vaseline ready! GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!

We received this picture from our friend, Kim, today, and we love it. We’re not sure there’s such a thing as the Easter fairy, but if there is, we don’t think it could look any cuter then this.

Happy Easter, Katie!

I am sitting here at work today thinking of my mom…she is in Puerto Rico on a 10-day vacation. I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more than she does. She will get to spend time with my family and friends in a warm, sunny climate and I envy her. I hope that she has a great vacation and comes back refreshed so that she can get back into the wedding planning trenches with me. I love you mom and have a great time!!!

The following is by an unknown author and was forwarded to me by one of my fraternity brothers. It’s a little long but a good read.

Our Western Mob – From the graveyard of Kabul to the quagmire of Iraq to the looting of Baghdad.

The jubilation of liberating millions from fascism and removing the world’s most odious dictator apparently lasted about 12 hours. I was listening to a frustrated Mr. Rumsfeld last Friday in a news briefing as he tried to deal with a host of furious and crazy questions – a journalistic circus that was nevertheless predictable even before the war started.

So how many people were at the post office at 11:59 last night sticking their tax return in the mail? It was a close call for us. We filed ours in February. :)

I’ve upgraded the photo section. It’s now a full fledged gallery. Everything is displayed better, you can view slide shows with different transitional effects, and you can even leave comments for individual photos. Let me know how you like it.
