TiVolicious

Snow update: about four or five inches on the ground currently. Still snowing pretty heavily so we’ll get some more accumulation today. I just love shoveling snow every week.

On a good note, I figured out how to extract video from my TiVo. It’s incredibly easy. After fiddling with a program called TiVoApp, I finally found something called TyTool (this link describes the whole extraction process, but you can find TyTool and other stuff there). So I have the raw video streams on my computer; now I just need to turn them into something useful for making VCDs and SVCDs. Hopefully I can do that this weekend (in between shoveling snow, of course).

The Perfect Storm…Part II?

Snow update: got an inch or two yesterday (which started in the morning when they said it wouldn’t be here until the evening). Now I’ve heard predictions for anywhere from three to ten inches starting late afternoon today and continuing through noon tomorrow.

These weather forecasters have no idea what’s going to happen, yet they continue to hype every storm and mention every possible scenario so as to claim afterwards that they forecasted correctly.

Storm Suggestions

Hey, updates have been a little sparse lately. Sorry about that. I’ve changed the look of the main page here once again. I’ll probably stick a new poll up soon…the current one has run it’s course.

Got word today that our invitations are in. We might pick them up tomorrow so I’ll post my thoughts about them soon.

Finally did our taxes this past weekend. I hate doing them, but I put them off longer than I usually do this year. Just been too busy. I ended up owing a little money (boo!), but Monica is getting a big fat refund (yea!).

Ok, back to the snow from last week. It’s official…I hate this town. Don’t worry about plowing for a few days, and once you do, no need to worry about plowing every lane or plowing in a straight line. In fact, it’s a good idea to plow big piles of snow into intersections and random lanes so that people will have an interesting drive to and from work every day. Oh, and seeing as how subway trains are hardly ever outside, let’s design a metro that breaks down when it snows. All of these things and more can be yours just by living in Northern Virginia.

Cabin Fever

Added a few more pictures from this morning. They still haven’t plowed our streets yet, and you can see how our cars are still buried. I spent this morning shoveling our walkway and sidewalk. It’s a ton of snow!

Dug our cars out this afternoon. Too bad Mr. Plow hasn’t come yet, so we’ll just have to dig them out again tomorrow. The good news is that the federal gov’t is closed tomorrow…which means no work for me! There’s no way I could even get out of our neighborhood anyway.

The Perfect Storm

Wow! We have about a foot of snow so far, and it’s still coming down hard. Church was even cancelled this morning. Before it’s all over we could have twenty five inches! I’ve pointed the webcam out back so you can see just what we’ve got. I’ll post some pictures of all of this snow too.

Ok, here’s some pictures taken around 12:30 pm.

Looks as if we have over one and a half feet of snow right now with more on the way tonight. The snow is actually taller than Jack! I’ll take some more pictures tomorrow and really give you a sense of how much there is. Too bad we already had tomorrow off for President’s Day. What a waste of a holiday!

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown

I’ve reset the results for the poll. We’ll see how we do this time.

More snow coming this way. We’re supposed to get a wintry mix on Saturday, heavy snow on Sunday, and more snow on Monday. The high on Sunday is only going to be 21 degrees! Sounds like a definite TiVo/DVD/XBox kind of weekend.

Monica’s mom is coming on Saturday to stay for a few days. She’s going to be leaving New York right when the snow is supposed to be starting…what a fun drive that’s going to be. Drive safely, Julia!

Tomorrow is the big St. Valentine’s Day, a holiday most definitely set up by a woman to drive men nuts. Seriously, is there any other holiday that puts more stress on a man to come up with a “special” gift for his girl? You have to look like you really put some thought into (even if you didn’t). Of course, I bought Monica the perfect gift this year. ;)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Ok, been a few days since I posted here. I’ve spent some time updating the look and feel of the site. It’s totally different now, as if you couldn’t tell. Post some messages and tell me what you think!

The cold weather is really starting to take a toll on us. I’m sick. Monica is sick. The only healthy thing in this house is lil’ Jack.

There’s word of a major storm heading this way threatening to dump alot of snow on us near the end of this week. I can’t believe I’m going to say it, but I’m tired of the snow. It’s cool when you’re a kid, but when you have to go to work, it absolutely sucks. It wouldn’t be so bad if my job would actually close when it snows six inches and it takes five hours to shovel the snow and you have to get up three hours early to get to work on time. Ok, rant over.

Oh, and a big Happy Birthday goes out to my dad today.

Does that mean you can draw social security now?

King of Freaks

Holy cow, it’s snowing like crazy right now. There’s probably two or three inches on the ground right now and the forecasters said the heavy stuff was going to be tomorrow morning! We’re supposed to get four to six inches, and it’s looking pretty good for that right now. Maybe I’ll get lucky and won’t have to go to work tomorrow. Fat chance. Check out opm.gov tomorrow morning to see where I’m at.

Tweaked the about us page a little bit; looks quite a bit better now.

We watched that Michael Jackson special on 20/20 tonight. Boy, is that guy living in a fantasy world or what? Children sleeping in his bedroom, mannequins in his hotel room, the flat-out denial of any major plastic surgery on his face…the guy is just creepy. I’m still waiting for the special when they try to get Janet and him in the same room at the same time.

Oh, it appears some little script-kiddie or something doesn’t like my poll and has been fudging my results. I didn’t think I’d have to do it, but there might be some checks against that in the near future. Kind of funny that this silly page would garner that much attention.

Fun with Car Keys

Had a little adventure today when Monica locked her keys in her car. It was extra fun because she had no idea where her spare key is. AAA is king (a slow king, but still king).

Went to the doctor today, but all they gave me was medicine for my symptoms…no antibiotics. I understand that too many of those is bad for you in the long run, but I know this sinus infection is going to get worse, as usual, and I’ll need the antibiotics in a few days anyway. Oh well. *cough*

Made some more changes to the front page. There are now random photos that will appear above the blogs. I’m not sure if I’m done tinkering or not, but we’ll see.

That was some speech by Powell today, huh? You wanted evidence? Blammo, here’s enough for three Iraqs. Anyone that’s not behind us now is insane. Of course, France will still wuss out.

Sick of Being Sick

Monday. Blech.

Fighting this sinus infection today. My head feels like it’s in the clouds. I’m going to have to go the doctor later this week.

Finalized our honeymoon today. Yea! I’ll put the details on the wedding page eventually. Yeah, I know, we’ve said that alot lately and nothing has shown up. It’ll be there.

Changed the look of the front page. I was thinking it was a little too cluttered. I moved the movie, DVD, and book sections to the ‘about us’ page. Let me know what you think.
