Saw a band called SuperDiamond on Friday night. For those not in the know, they are a Neil Diamond cover band who really add their own style to his songs. I have never been a really big Neil Diamond fan before, but do I like his music, and I now have a better appreciation for it. I highly recommend seeing them in concert if you get the chance.

Took Jack to the vet today and everything checked out fine. Jack may tell a different story though as he may have felt a little “violated” after the whole experience. He probably mistook the vet for a Catholic priest.

Added a blog archive today. You will only see the last week’s (seven days) worth of logs on the main page from now on. If you click on the archive, you’ll be able to see all of the blogs, a week (seven) at a time on a page.

Ok, so it’s snowing. It’s pretty light, and there may half an inch at this point, but it is sticking. We’ll see what it looks like in the morning.

Well, it’s finally happened. Monica had been saying for a long time how our dog, Jack, always shivered when she took him on walks in the winter. I may have noticed this once or twice, but…he’s a dog, he has fur, he can deal with it. So she comes home today with her latest purchase, a doggie coat. You’ve got to be kidding me. This thing looks like a fleeced “Fonzie” jacket. It lays over his back and snaps under his belly, just like “the Fonz”. It’s going to cost me a fortune in doggie psychiatric bills to get him over the humiliation he’ll feel from all the other dogs in the neighborhood making fun of him. Twenty bucks says he still shivers from the cold…and from shame.

Snow?

Some changes for the front page. I finally got the Link of the Day and Quote of the Day working (they will be different every day from now on). I also added some more Items of Interest on the right. I’ll try to update those on a semi-regular basis.

Now the weather forecasters are calling for at least four inches of snow here on Friday. Last time they called for that much it actually happened (a rarity) so we’ll see. My work goes by the federal gov’t schedule, which means it could snow four feet and everything would be closed and buried…except for the federal gov’t.

Updated the about us page. Also did btss (behind the scenes stuff in case you haven’t been keeping up).

What is it with people still having Christmas lights up? And they’re still turning them on even! It’s two weeks into the new year, people! I don’t consider our neighborhood white trash, but, come June, I may be telling a different story.

I found out today some of our friends got bit by the home theater bug. You know who you are. There’s nothing like sitting down to watch a movie in your own home, knowing that what you’re watching and hearing rivals that of the local theaters (and your neighbors can attest to that fact too, usually :) .

Well, I’m almost finished with the content management for the site. You can click on most anything on the front page to look at what is archived, although I haven’t done that for the blogs yet.

Congratulations to Brian & Andi on the birth of their daughter Charlotte Branwen! She was born at 1:13 pm this afternoon, weighed 6lbs 13 oz, and was 20 inches long. I am sure she looks just like a little angel.

Mostly behind the scenes stuff today…mainly to make content management alot easier for me. :)

Only one really good game out of four this weekend in the NFL. I think it’s going to be Titans-Eagles in the Superbowl this year with the Eagles winning it all. Would be interesting to see the Bucs go though as they’ve never been before.

Pretty relaxing weekend overall. I had some headaches with PHP and MySQL today, but I managed to figure it out (even though it still doesn’t make sense why it works the way it does).

Supposed to be a super cold week here, though a quick check of the forecast suggests the meteorologists may have hyped it up a bit, spouting phrases such as “the coldest weather in ten years”. What ever happened to global warming?

More changes to the site. I started Jack’s page, but there isn’t much on it right now. Added some “Items of Interest” on the right side of the front page. I’ve also added some pages so you can see previous movies and dvds that we’ve seen. Let me know what you think of the changes.

Didn’t do much today. Just finished watching Vick lose to the Eagles. Too bad, but I have a feeling he’ll see better days in the years ahead. Another controversial finish earlier today in the Steelers-Titans game, but I think it was the right call. Should be interesting to see how the NFL responds this time and to see if they fine Bill Cowher.

Saw Catch Me If You Can today. Very good movie. I enjoyed it alot. It was better than Cats.

Some minor changes for the site today. Changed the fonts again, shuffled the front page as well as the nav bar up top. The guestbook now has it’s own page and nav bar item. I took the links item off the nav bar because I figured I’d just put them on the about us or front page.

Boy, what a long week this was. I am beat. We delivered a big project at work today and everything appeared to go very smoothly (despite some last minute changes, par for the course in the software development world). As a result of working a hard week and staying up late to work on this site, the lack of sleep is really catching up to me. Thank goodness tomorrow is National Sleep-In Day. :)

Not much done with the site today; just some behind the scenes stuff.

One of the biggest pains in the neck with owning a car in VA is having to get it inspected every year. I usually go to a local gas station to get mine done, and invariably there is a problem. Most of the kinds of places where you can actually leave your car don’t do inspections on the weekends, which is exactly when I have the opportunity to leave my car. Makes sense, right? At the gas stations, they inspect cars during the week (and on weekends sometimes), and you can wait while it’s done. However, they usually start inspections around 8:00 am and there is ALWAYS a line of people waiting there for the guy to show up. And the inspection guys don’t seem to have the best work ethic so they kind of show up when they feel like it. One time I went to one by my job, and I’m waiting and waiting…and waiting. Finally I go inside and ask what the deal and they tell me that he had a family emergency and wasn’t coming in. Thanks for telling me that, jerkheads! I came back to that same gas station a few days later (I know, big mistake) and the guy didn’t show up because of a silly, little ice storm.

But I digress. This morning I had the great idea of going to a gas station by my job that actually starts inspections at 7:30 am (at least, that’s what’s posted on the sign). My first thought is that everyone else will have this same idea so I better get there early. So, I wake up extra early and even leave before the sun gets up. I pull up to the gas station and, what luck, there is no one else there yet. So 7:30 rolls around and no inspection guy. 7:45…no inspection guy. Finally at 7:52, the guy comes out to take my car. I’m not really angry because I’m the first one there, but it’s really bad if you’re behind a couple of other people and have somewhere to go. It totally sucks because it’s something you HAVE to do, it costs you money to do it, and you’re at the mercy of the no-work-ethic-having inspection guys. If you live in a state that doesn’t require them, count your blessings.

As you may have noticed, I have changed some font sizes once again on some pages. Monica thought the last one was too small, so let’s see how people do with the new size. I modified the photos section a little bit, but I still need to do some more with it. I moved the “Leave a Message” from the wedding page to it’s own page which is linked from the main page. Hopefully this won’t confuse anyone. I also redid the “about us” page and main page some, moving things around and, generally, making things look cleaner. Comments, thoughts, and suggestions about any of this stuff are always welcome.

Not much happened today otherwise. Went to AAA to talk to someone about our honeymoon; got a few books and talked to a lady for awhile. I also checked out some web sites and message boards so we have alot of things still to sort through. We are possibly meeting with someone about our wedding invitations this weekend. Monica is doing a TON so maybe she’ll update here about that sooner or later.

On a non-wedding note, I’m really looking forward to seeing Catch Me If You Can this weekend. It just looks as if it has that kind of style and music that I always love in a movie. For more info about the real life guy upon which the movie was based, check out this site. Be sure to read the “Film & Book Comments” section.
