Nothing to See Here

Not much happened today. Snowed a little bit, but nothing stuck though. We’re busy trying to plan our honeymoon right now. We’ll post details on the wedding page once everything is straightened out.

Looks as if we have a few votes already for our poll. War with Iraq is in the lead. Go ahead and vote now! We’ll send the official results to Fox News in a couple of weeks so be sure to tune in to see the results.

It’s a Poll

Added a poll today (on the right hand side of the page). Starting with a pretty heavy topic right off the bat here: the impending war with Iraq. I’ll leave that up for awhile and see what kinds of results we get. If you have any comments, feel free to email us or leave us a message.

Speeches and Subways

Wow, what a speech, huh? I think the President hit the nail on the head with regards to Iraq, and I think the Democrats will actually be on board now. If they don’t, it will be political suicide. The tax cuts and healthcare proposals seem to be right on track as well (of course, cutting taxes is always the right thing to do :) . I’m not sure what to think about the African AIDS and hydrogen car things yet. Let’s get past this war with Iraq first.

Oy, what a ride on the metro today. I had to go downtown to work today which means I had to ride the metro to and from work. Well, as I walk into the metro on the way home, I hear a message over the loud speaker saying there will be a “slight delay” because someone had gotten sick earlier on one of the trains. What does that mean? They vomitted? Heart attack? Stubbed a big toe? I never found out, but I did find out what it\’s like to have my body pressed against alot of other bodies…smelly ones too. Not the kind of pressing you were thinking about, I’m sure. Six boxes of sardines, heading down the track until I finally got to my station, the end of the line.

Webcamming

Had a little problem with the photos earlier due to moving the site to a different server, but everything should be working now.

Not much happened today. Got a hair cut. Went to the gym. Came home and worked on finances (which I had been putting off for awhile). Luckily, everything balanced out pretty quickly, which usually doesn’t happen and I end up staying up all night trying to find out where an extra two cents came from.

Anyone been watching the webcam? I’m afraid it’s usually pretty boring. I watched today sporadically to see if I could see Jack watching TV or having a cigarette or something, but he didn’t appear one time. He must spend all his time upstairs chilling out on our bed.

Superbowl Shuffle

Photos are fixed!

Just got back from watching the Bucs win Superbowl XXXVII. Our thanks go out to Mike and Laura for hosting a great party. A sort of entertaining game for a few plays, but alot of it was pretty boring. Guess it was inevitable after such a good game last year. The commericials were about average, with my favorites being the Pepsi with the Osbournes, the Upside Down Clown with Bud Light, and the Reebok Terry Tate. Now they will get replayed ad nauseum until next Superbowl.

Pretty busy weekend. On Saturday we looked at some hotels for the wedding and finally started our registry at Crate & Barrel. We’re going to Hecht’s and Target next so we’ll put up the links and info on the wedding page when we get everything straightened out. Saturday night, we went to a party at Rich and Conni’s to celebrate Conni turning the big 3-0. Happy Birthday, Conni!

Our email is finally working so you can now get ahold of Monica at monica at brimon dot net, Brian at brian at brimon dot net, and even Jack at jack at brimon dot net.

If you haven’t noticed already, there’s a new link in the nav bar for our WebCam. It’s currently pointing just over my head into our living room/dining room area (you can even see Jack’s bed on the right). Check it out every once in awhile to see if you can catch us picking our nose or something.

Car Alarms are the Devil

TGIF.

Nothing like a hot bowl of chili on a cold winter day. Had some friends over for dinner this evening so it’s a good thing I threw together a crock pot full of chili this morning.

It was bitter cold last night so it felt really good to climb into a warm bed. That good feeling quickly turned sour as not long after drifting off, because it was so windy, our neighbor’s car alarm started going off. Now all of us have heard car alarms in the middle of the night, and we just ignore them and go back to sleep after a few minutes of them wailing. But this car was possessed by the devil. I had looked outside to make sure there were no shenanigans going on, then climbed back into bed thinking relief would come eventually. But no, just like the Energizer bunny, it kept going and going and going and going…. I quickly dressed and went to our neighbors, all the while thinking bad thoughts about them and, of course, the inventor of the car alarm. I rang their door bell and…no answer. I rang again. Still nothing. I started knocking, at first normally, then louder, still louder, until finally I was furiously pounding on the door and jamming my finger so quickly on their door bell, I had flash-backs of playing Track & Field on my old Nintendo. So they finally answered the door, turned off the alarm, we got a good night’s sleep, I forgot my bad thoughts, and then they brought us goodies this evening as an apology.

I like goodies.

Bitter Cold, Biting Comentary

Added a new nav bar and some color to the site today. Also finally made some additions to Jack’s page. How does it look?

Wow, is it cold outside. I think the high today was 16 degrees with a wind chill much lower than that. 16! Not supposed to really warm up much higher than freezing until next week.

You know, I’ve been told I should watch what I say concerning the little blurbs in the Rants & Raves section (formerly Items of Interest, I think I like the new name better). Most everything I say there is “tongue in cheek” so I hope no one is taking it too seriously. This is obviously free speech, but I know in this day and age, as sad as it may be, it actually is possible to get in trouble for saying things with which not everyone agrees. But hey, if you actually read the articles I post and think about what I say, you’ll be a better person for it. :)

Water is Life

Gave the front page a little bit of an overhaul today. Added a picture, changed how some of the things are displayed, etc. What do you think?

Monica is putting information together for the wedding page, and it should be updated in the next couple of days. Stay tuned!

Woke up this morning to no water. Turn on the faucet and…nothing. Life’s a bit different when you don’t start the day with a hot shower. Life is very different when you can’t even flush the toilet. We’ve had a few days of arctic, spit-and-it-freezes-in-mid-air cold weather and last night was the worst we’ve had so far. As a result, our water meter froze up and stopped our water supply. I’ve been told about letting a faucet run when the temperature is cold (even last week by my dad), but it didn’t even occur to me until after I tried to wash my face with some soap mixed with air. The water company didn’t even come out to fix it today (I first called them around 6:15 am), but they finally fixed it this evening after I called them back and listened to the guy tell me they had received a ton of customer service calls and fixed every one of them.

So now, every faucet is on full blast, and I can sleep soundly knowing that the draining noise I hear is the sound of water not freezing…and money being sucked out of my bank account to pay the water bill.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Pillow

Had some issues last night and most of today so the site was down. But now we’re back up and running (hopefully for good).

I was listening to the Howard Stern show this morning on the local radio station and the DJ guy came on for a commercial break to tell me about Jimmy Kimmel’s new show on ABC and that if I was the tenth caller, I’d win a “Jimmy Kimmel prize pack”. Now I think Jimmy Kimmel is pretty funny, and a prize pack sounded pretty cool to me so I figured, what the heck, I’ll give it a shot. After a few busy signals, the phone starts to ring. A guy picks up and I ask, “Am I the tenth caller?” Yes! I’m a winner! So the guy rattles off what I’ve won in the aforementioned prize pack: a shot glass, a pillow case…and this is where I zoned about for a bit. There was one or two more things in the prize pack, but the inclusion of a pillow case threw me for a loop. At that exact moment, I was wondering what the heck a “Jimmy Kimmel pillow case” looks like and if I really wanted to float away to sleepy land while my face rested on Jimmy Kimmel’s nose. He takes my info and says I should get it in about one or two weeks. I’ll be sure to post some pics of the official prize pack once it arrives.

Superbowl Bound

Boy, did I call it or what? Of course, I meant to say the teams that won’t be in the Superbowl are Tennessee and Philadelphia. The Bucs really shut down McNabb & Co. and the Raiders just simply overpowered the Titans. It’s good to see the Bucs finally make it to the big game. After living in Tampa for a few years and living through season after season of crappy football (and even worse uniforms), it’s about time they had fortune on their side. Should be a good match-up too as Gruden faces his old team. I sure hope this year’s game is competitive like last year’s…if not, there’s always the commericials.

Oh, and I predict a Bucs victory.
